The short version

Nitevia listens while you sleep and figures out what happened — snoring, coughing, restlessness. Every bit of that analysis runs on your device. We have no servers that store your recordings. We don't know who you are. We don't need to.

1. Data We Collect

Nitevia collects only what's needed to analyze your sleep:

DataWhere it livesEver leaves device?
Audio recordingsApp-private storage on your deviceNo
Sound event classifications (label, timestamp, confidence)App-private storage on your deviceNo
Session metadata (duration, event count, battery usage)App-private storage on your deviceNo
Your preferences (retention setting, display options)App-private storage on your deviceNo

Crash diagnostics (opt-in only, OFF by default): if — and only if — you turn on crash reporting, limited technical crash data may leave your device as described in §5. It is off unless you explicitly enable it.

2. Data We Do NOT Collect

3. How We Store Your Data

All Nitevia data lives in your device's private app sandbox (iOS) or app-private storage (Android):

4. Data Retention

You control how many nights Nitevia keeps. Choose in Settings → Saved records:

You can delete individual sessions or wipe all data at any time from Settings → Data Management.

5. Third-Party Services

Crash diagnostics — opt-in, OFF by default

To help us fix bugs, Nitevia includes optional crash reporting. It is off by default and only sends anything if you turn it on. When enabled:

You can turn crash reporting on or off at any time in Settings. When it is off, no data is sent.

No other third-party services are in use.

6. Your Rights

Everyone:

You can delete all your data at any time from within the app (Settings → Data Management). Because data lives only on your device, in-app deletion is complete deletion — nothing else to request.

European Economic Area and United Kingdom (GDPR / UK GDPR):

If crash diagnostics are enabled, a limited amount of data (device identifiers in crash reports) may qualify as personal data under the GDPR. In that case, you have rights to:

Contact us (§9) to exercise these rights. Our legal basis for crash data processing would be legitimate interest in maintaining app stability, balanced against your privacy rights given the minimal, non-content data involved.

California (CCPA):

We do not sell your personal information. If crash diagnostics are enabled, limited device diagnostic data may be shared with a service provider solely for crash analysis purposes — this qualifies as a "service provider" relationship, not a sale.

7. Children

Nitevia is not directed at children under 13 (United States) or under 16 (European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app requires no account and collects no identifying information on-device. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used this app with crash diagnostics enabled, contact us to request any associated data deletion.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. For significant changes — particularly if we add services that send data off-device — we will notify you within the app before the change takes effect.
